2 Uses
The pluperfect indicative has these uses:
- It is the past of the speech of the past.
Cuando llegaron los bomberos, los vecinos ya habían apagado el fuego.
Cuando cogí al bebé en brazos, me di cuenta de que se había hecho pipí.
- The clauses that in direct speech are expressed with preterit or preterit perfect indicative need pluperfect indicative in indirect speech.
