Y and e

1 The conjunction y is used to link several elements of the clause. Y is placed before the last element of a series.

El perro es grande, peludo y perezoso. (Y coordinates adjectives.)
Ha vivido en París, Londres y Nueva York. (Y coordinates circumstantial complements.)
Entró, comió un bocadillo de queso y salió. (Y coordinates clauses.)

This is the commonest use of the conjunction y, but also consider two figures of speech: the polysyndeton allows the repetition of the conjunction before each element, and the asyndeton removes all the conjunctions. These are resources of the poetical Spanish.

El perro es grande y peludo y perezoso. (Polysyndeton)
El perro es grande, peludo, perezoso. (Asyndeton)
