1 In America, acá and allá are more frequently used than in Spain. Acá and aquí refer to a near place or to the place where we are.
Aquí están tus zapatillas.
Aquí hay corriente de aire.
Allá and allí refer to a far place or, in contrast to aquí, place where we are not.
Allí no vive nadie.
Allí, en mi país hace más calor que aquí.
Ahí refers to a near place, but closer to the interlocutor.
Coge las llaves, está ahí, a tu derecha.
Me caí ahí, donde tú estás ahora.
Es decir, existe una correspondendia entre advervios de lugar y adjetivos demostrativos.

4 Allá and allí may have value temporary.
Allá por los años treinta encontraron a un hombre sin cabeza en la sala de un cine. (Allá = hace tiempo)
