2 Uses
The perfect infinitive is used to express:
- Finished action.
Deberías haber vigilado mejor a tu hijo. (El niño se ha tragado un botón mientras nadie miraba.)
Alguien ha roto la ventana; deben de haber sido los hijos del vecino.
This tense is used in parallel to the simple infinitives; the perfect infinitives add the idea of conclusion.
- Reproachs.
Haber llegado antes. (It is said to someone who is out of chair.)
Haberte levantado antes. (It is said to someone who is late.)
Haber puesto gasolina ayer. (It is said to someone who has ran out of petrol.)
